Hot dip galvanizing process and industry galvanizing quality standards for the surface of light poles
Feb 14, 2025
In modern urban lighting and infrastructure construction, the durability and corrosion resistance of light poles are crucial, directly affecting their service life and maintenance costs. The hot-dip galvanizing process, as the core technology for surface treatment of lamp posts, can significantly improve corrosion resistance and extend service life. This article will briefly introduce the principle of hot-dip galvanizing process, industry galvanizing quality standards, and our company's technical advantages in light pole products.
1. Introduction to hot-dip galvanizing process
The hot-dip galvanizing process immerses steel products in molten zinc to form a dense layer of zinc iron alloy on their surface, effectively isolating air and moisture, preventing steel from rusting, and providing excellent mechanical protection. Hot dip galvanized light poles have significant advantages such as strong corrosion resistance, long service life (up to 20-30 years), low maintenance costs (high stability of the zinc layer, almost no need for later maintenance), and good environmental performance (no harmful substance emissions, in line with environmental requirements), making them particularly suitable for long-term outdoor use.
2. Thickness and quality requirements for hot-dip galvanized zinc layer
The thickness of hot-dip galvanized zinc layer is an important indicator for measuring the quality of galvanizing. According to national standards, different thicknesses of steel correspond to different requirements for zinc layer thickness:
1. Steel thickness<1.5mm: Zinc layer thickness ≥ 45 μ m, zinc content per unit area ≥ 325g/㎡.
1.5mm ≤ steel thickness < 3mm: zinc layer thickness ≥ 55 μ m, zinc content per unit area ≥ 395g/㎡.
3mm ≤ steel thickness < 6mm: zinc layer thickness ≥ 70 μ m, zinc content per unit area ≥ 505g/㎡.
4. Steel thickness ≥ 6mm: Zinc layer thickness ≥ 85 μ m, zinc content per unit area ≥ 606g/㎡.
The conversion formula between zinc layer thickness and zinc content per unit area is:
Unit area zinc content (g/㎡)=zinc layer thickness (μ m) × zinc density (7.14g/cm ³).
For example, the zinc layer thickness of 85 μ m corresponds to a zinc content per unit area of 606g/㎡, which is 85 μ m × 7.14g/cm ³.
3. International galvanizing standards and industry quality requirements
The quality of hot-dip galvanized light poles must comply with national standards and refer to international standards such as ISO 1461 "Specification for hot-dip galvanized coatings". This standard imposes strict requirements on indicators such as zinc layer thickness, adhesion, and uniformity to ensure the global applicability and reliability of the product. Our company's light poles strictly follow international and domestic standards to ensure uniform zinc layer thickness and strong adhesion, meeting the needs of different environments.
